The Research Management Track contains a 24-month program that allows trainees to gain hands-on experience on critical areas relating to the knowledge of different aspects of research administration.

The trainees will spend six months in different settings in rotation depending on the availability of positions in Qatar Foundation’s Research Division and its partners. Partners include: Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF), Sidra Medical and Research Center, and Education City branch campuses such as Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q), Texas A & M University at Qatar (TAMU-Q), and Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q). During the training rotation, trainees may assist in short-term projects to help gain knowledge of the roles of each research player. Overseas training courses are also possible depending on institutional needs. The program offers trainees possibility of a place in the Research Division or in any of the Qatar Foundation Research Centers subject to satisfactorily completion of the mandatory 24 months.

The trainees will have the opportunity to experience different aspects of research management including:

Research Evaluation - Trainees will learn to objectively assess and evaluate scientific research proposals.

Research Partnership - This provides a chance for trainees to be involved with targeting areas of research that gives strength to QF, its centers and institutions through making partnerships.

Research Promotion - It provides the chance to be creative in designing appropriate publicity materials to raise the profile of scientific research.

Research Coordination - Trainees will be able to interact at all levels of management.

Research Compliance - Trainee will learn about regulatory and ethical issues related to human, animal and basic science research.

Research Monitoring - This aspect provides understanding the kind of data used for monitoring and helping to solicit data from its sources in order to prepare new research updates and reporting.

Operations of Science Park - Trainees will be exposed to the inner workings of a science park including its support programs.

Operations of a Funding Body - Trainees will acquire knowledge on the process of bidding for a scientific research fund.

Operations of Research Centers - It will give insight into the components of a research centre and its related activities.
